    BIOGRAPHY: Henry C. Blunck, was born, in Quarmbeck, near Kiel, Schleswig
    Hollstein, Germany, the son of Claus Christian Blunck, and Anna Margarethe
    Schlutter, August 25th, 1877. There were also in the family Dora, Wilhelmina,
    and Martha.
    The family soon after the birth of this only son moved to Kiel to live,
    and it was there, that they accepted the church through the missionaries.
    The parents jointed the church in 188___.
    Henry was baptized May 15, 1889, by Louis M. Cannon.
    The oldest sister, Dora, emigrated to Utah in the fall of 1889.
    Henry came to Utah in 1891, and made his home with the O___ Horely family
    in Forestdale, and later having worked for Will Hansen. During 1892
    Wilhelmina came to Utah and she went to doing house work for the Charles
    Wilkins family. The three worked and saved, and then the parents and sister
    Martha came out in December of 1895.
    The family then took residence on old 12th So. with an apartment of
    Joseph Jensen.
    In February 1896 the famly moved to near Rexburg, Idaho, to take over a
    farm known as the Durrous and Winters ranch near the Snake River west of
    Rexburg, Idaho, also later took over the Peter Fla___'s farm.
    Later in the fall of 1898 they moved to Hibbard and took over the Fred
    Ph__t farm for two years while he filled a m______.
    During the spring of 1897, Henry went with Thomas Businger, of Salt Lake
    , to Dillon, Montana and worked there as a cook in a mining camp.
    Henry and his father filed on some land on Rexburg Bench, about twelve
    miles southeast of Rexburg, and built a log cabin and began fencing the
    property.
    In the spring of 1901, the family moved to the cabin, and began clearing
    sagebrush. They planted their first fall wheat in 1902 on twenty acres they
    had prepared.
    Henry worked for Thomas E. Ricks, for $25.00 per month plus bo. to get
    some cash to get more equipment.
    Wilhelmina married Joseph A. Johanson, and they and Henry went up near
    ____Warus River, in the Island Park Country to the Morgan Knapp Sawmill, to
    chop logs, and thereby made another $75.00.
    Henry married Hattie Staub October 2, 1903, in the Salt Lake Temple.
    Moved into an apartment on 1st West, in Rexburg, being part of the house owned
    by Robert H_________, Hattie's aunt and uncle.
    During the winter of 1903-1904 Henry hauled hay and fed sheep for Fred
    Park, of Hibbard $35.00 per month.
    The spring of 1904 found Henry back on the farm clearing more sagebrush
    and fencing, etc.
    Henry purchased a lot in Rexburg and got a set of logs to build there.
    In the fall of 1904, Joseph A. Johanson helped Henry build this log
    house, with rock foundation, brick chimney, and transom over the door. (In
    November 1904, Henry'a mother passed away.)
    In this first modest home, was born their first son, George., February
    26, 1905.
    During the spring of 1905, Henry labored on the college administration
    bldg. for $2.00 per day.
    In June 1905, Joseph A. Johanson and Henry took a contract of cutting
    logs, for Alma Hess, in the Island Park country.
    In the fall of 1905 Henry came back to the farm and hauled firewood and
    fence posts for use and sale to in turn get enough to buy groceries. Also
    helped to build a one room school house for the new school district formed on
    the Rexburg bench, known as Herbert.
    Henry and Ezra Lillenquist and Joseph A. Johanson began conducting Sunday
    School and Sacrament Meetings.
    It was in the fall of 1905, that Grandfather Christen Bluck received
    Patent rights on the first 160 acres of land.
    November 6, 1906, Wm. H. Blunck, the second son was born, at Rexburg,
    Idaho.
    It was not too long after that before Henry filed on land for himself and
    eventually built a log cabin on it, and it was there, that a third son, Leo C.
    Blunck was born, January 4, 1909.
    The Herbert Branch was organized, as an independent branch, January 9,
    1910, with Henry C. Blunck, as President and James W. Archibald and Alexander
    S. Lesthom, as counselors.
    April 16th, 1910 Christian Blunck, sold his land to Robert and James
    Leathom for $6,000.00.
    Christian Blunck left for a mission to Germany, April 19, 1911.
    October 4th, 1912, Henry got his final papers on his 160 acres of land.
    Kenneth Edward Blunck was born July 1, 1911, Herbert, Idaho.
    Rulon Detlef Blunck was born April 21, 1914, Herbert, Idaho.
    Lula Mary Blunck, lst daughter, born in Rexburg, June 11, 1916.
    Bought a home in Rexburg September 2, 1916, from Nephi Whittaker.
    Viola May Blunck, 2nd daughter born in Rexberg May 9, 1923. Christian
    Blunck came home from his mission in Germany, 14th July, 1913.
    Robert and James Leathom, failed to pay for Christian Blunck's property,
    so Henry purchased the 160 acres for $4,500.00, November 27, 1913.
    During the winter of 1919-1920, Hattie Blunck, was stricken with a severe
    case of flue, in which she almost lost her life, and in Janary a baby girl,
    named Ruth was born, but died immediately afterwards. She was buried in the
    Rexburg Cemetery January 25, 1920. The flu caused this we are sure.
    George H. Blunck, the oldest son, left for a mission to Switzerland and
    Germany, June 3rd, 1925, and after going to Salt Lake for instruction, left
    June 16th for the -----
    Another daughter was born, July 8, 1925, at Rexburg. Her name Erma
    Geneve Blunck.
    The Herbert Branch was dissolved and Henry was released on Sept 27, 1925.
    He was sustained and ordained a Bishop of the Rexburg 4th Ward, by Melvin J.
    Ballard, September 27, 1925.
    Clause Christian Blunck passed away at the age of 75, 26th of March,
    1926, at Salt Lake City.
    Lavina Ruth Blunck, the youngest of this large family, was born August
    15, 1927, at Rexburg.
    George H. Blunck returned from a mission to Germany and Switzerland in
    February, 1928.
    George moved to Salt Lake shortly after coming home to seek employment.
    Henry C. Blunck was relased as Bishop of Rexburg 4th Ward on Sept. 27,
    1928. He was then sustained a member of the High Council for the Fremont and
    later the Rexburg Stake. This job he did faithfuly fulfill for 16 years.
    George married Rosa M. Sch_____, 3rd of October, 1928, at Salt Lake
    Temple. They established their home in Salt Lake City.

    Bernice married Roy Smith and have 4 children.
    Marilyn married Earl Gilbert and they have 2 boys, all living in Salt
    Lake City.
    William H. Blunck married Lillian Galbraith, June 18, 19__ in the Salt
    Lake Temple, but soon afterward divorced.
    Leo C. Blunck, married Irene Gray, October 20, 1930, at Rigby, Idaho.
    William H. Blunck filled a mission to East Central Stakes during
    1933-1935. He married Ruth Henderson of Roanoke, Virginia, January 21, 1936,
    Salt Lake Temple. They made their home in Rexburg, Idaho.
